SchoolTalk works with parents, schools, and the school system to improve communication and dispute resolution processes that are associated with the delivery of special education services. We work to develop models that can be replicated in school systems nationwide. Services include:
Facilitating IEP, IDEA Resolution Sessions, and other Special Education-related meetings
Training for school staff on how to work effectively with parents and parent advocates/attorneys
Information and referrals to parents for special education and advocacy services
Dispute Prevention: providing school staff, including principals, special education coordinators, and special education and general education teachers with information on how to meet special education procedural requirements
Stakeholder team building: creating a team at each school that includes parents, teachers, and administrators with the objective of building trust, developing problem-solving skills and attitudes, and changing the entire school "culture" around special education and dispute resolution
